How To Increase Retention In Your Downline

The average network marketer lasts about 3 months in a business, and that can be so frustrating!! I know what it feels like to work super hard, recruit a few people, and then have those people drop out a few weeks later. Its hard and its depressing.

So how can you keep your downline? How can you avoid everybody quitting on you?

First of all, there are people who dont accept help and dont want to talk to you. Dont ask me why that is cause I do not know! There isnt really anything you can do for them, so if they quit, just say see ya later and move on. If they dont let you help them, dont beat yourself up or it will get you down about your business.

Consider what keeps you in the business youre in. The number one reason is probably MONEY!! Either you are making money in the business, or you are confident you will shortly. People dont often leave their business when they are doing well and have a downline. So you need to teach your people how they can make money and do it fast! But remind them to have patience because they are building a business here which takes a little time.

If you have members in your downline who are the rare already-know-what-theyre-doing-and-will-make-money-no-matter-what types, then no worries. Those people are awesome because then you can really learn from each other!

But, for the vast majority, you have to help them believe they will make money even before they are making any. It is amazing how powerful the mind is! You have to create an atmosphere of togetherness and an atmosphere where your downline can ask for help.

This all starts with your phone conversation with them. Its a good idea, even if theyre joining your business, to have them call you back. It creates a sense that they can call you when they want and that you will help them. And for Heavens sake if they call you, you best be calling them back! Not to mention if they do call you back, it shows that this person is serious about joining your team.

Another thing to do is to give them assignments to complete and you should also share the knowledge you know. Then in a couple of days have them report what they have done and what the results were. Teach them that this is what they need to do for themselves everyday. Make a list of assignments they need and get them done!

One of the best ways to keep a downline is to have downline-specific activities and training. This makes them feel they are part of an exclusive club and that they are getting tons of training just for being with you. You can have a Skype group, a specified hour for a weekly Skype group chat, webinars, websites with training on it only for your downline, or whatever else you can think of.

One little tip here: you dont have to have 200 people in your downline to do this. If you get three people to a webinar you are doing, word will spread about it. Plus, your downline can invite prospects to it and get easier sign-ups.

Just remember that the whole key is to help your downline believe they will make money and then help them do it. I know, its pretty obvious, but how many people actually make the effort to create a team atmosphere?

In every business Ive been in, Ive never actually known my upline. Theyve never called me or helped me or provided training. This will help set you apart, and it will help you recruit even more, because word will spread about how great it is to be in your downline.

But you dont want to babysit your people! There is a very fine line between helping and babysitting. Tell them that if they need help they should take the initiative to call you and not wait around for you to contact them. You cant read their mind and they shouldnt expect you to.

Ultimately when it comes down to having retention in your downline, it really isn't your fault if your sign up decides to leave. Especially after you have tried to help them out. If someone doesn't want to do something, then just let them go and move on. There are plenty of other fish in the sea. :)
