How To Get Red Wine Out Of Carpets

So you have just moved into the home of your dreams, and everything is fresh and new. There is no better way to celebrate than with a house warming party. All of your friends and family come over to enjoy this momentous occasion with you and everyone is having wine. Suddenly, everything seems to move in slow motion as one of your party guests accidentally drops their glass and red wine splashes all over your new carpet. The good news is that your carpet is not ruined forever. There are ways to get red wine out of your carpet.

The first move you should make is to read through the papers that came with your carpet. These papers usually have instructions for caring for the carpet and how to clean up any unexpected spills. It is also a good idea to check to see if there are any specific techniques or solutions you will need to use for your type of carpet. Be sure to check to be certain that there are not any products that should absolutely not be used on your carpet so you do not cause more damage to the fibers. Finally, check to make sure that your warranty will not be voided if you use products on your own to clean up the stain.

The best thing you can do to save your rug is to begin cleaning the spot immediately. Use clean paper towels or cloths to blot up as much of the excess wine as you can. Be sure to work from the outside of the stain to the inside in order to avoid spreading the spot.

To remove red wine from the carpet, you can use white wine or club soda. Either of these will neutralize the stain and make it much easier to remove from the carpet. After pouring the white wine or the club soda onto the stain, blot up the spot with another paper towel or a clean cloth. You will notice that the red wine will disappear from the carpet and appear onto the towel.

After the spot dries thoroughly, you can then go about cleaning and freshening the rug as you would normally do. This will remove the smell out of the carpet.

If you are having a party and someone spills red wine, know that all is not lost and your carpet is not ruined forever. Just be sure to act quickly and keep some white wine or club soda on hand to help to clean any accidents.
