How To Get Offshore Oil Rig Jobs

By:

Positions within the oil industry can be very competitive and it can be challenging for you to find a relevant position. Part of the reason for this is simply the fact that work within this industry often pays very well and it doesn't necessitate a college education. Your success in finding oil rig jobs is generally going to come down to your preparation and how much effort you are willing to put into your search.

First of all you will need to acquire the necessary certifications that you will need in order to operate within this capacity. Generally you will receive on-the-job training but if you have certifications relating to first aid or an offshore survival certificate then you are going to give yourself a better chance of being selected.

If you don't have any relevant experience within the industry and then you are going to need to get some. You can find a job on a mainland facility and try to specifically search for positions that will involve drilling equipment. All of this is going to look excellent on your application for offshore work. In addition, by building your experience within the industry you will gain exposure to higher ranking members who may be able to provide you with the relevant opportunities later on down the line.

Always maintain a good level of physical fitness. The job working on an offshore rig is extremely demanding and before you are selected for employment you will need to take physical endurance tests. If you keep yourself in peak physical condition then you are going to give yourself a much better chance of finding yourself a position.

Make sure that you are keeping all of your personal paperwork in order as well. Many offshore rigs will be drilling in international waters and therefore you are going to need a passport and proof that you have up-to-date vaccinations. If you don't have these then you are not going to be allowed to work on the rig.

It is also a good idea to create a resume. While this is not necessarily going to be overly important, it will still prove that you are professional and that you are taking everything extremely seriously. It will also enable you to provide greater detail regarding your personal background if you cannot include this within your application.

Once you have done all of this you simply need to start searching around for oil rig jobs. Visit relevant companies directly, call up recruiters, and look around online.
