Short answer, orthopedic pillows really work, but there are a couple of tricks that you need to know if you want to get the best sleep you can get using an orthopedic pillow.

First of all, you need to know what type of pillow suits your needs best. There are three sleeping positions and an orthopedic pillow for each of them. These are: on the back, on the side and on the stomach. So, depending on your sleeping position, you need to choose the proper pillow.

Also, you need to choose a pillow thats comfortable for you. Even if you picked the right pillow for your sleeping position, you might find that the particular model youre trying is not for you. Nothing easier! Choose another one! There are plenty of manufacturers, and plenty of models on the market, so dont despair.

Once you found a pillow thats comfortable and designed for your sleeping position, its time to take it home. But, before you take your old pillow and throw it out, you must give your body a chance to adapt to it.

Truth is, most people have troubles sleeping with an orthopedic pillow because their bodies are used to an improper sleep position so much, that when they use an orthopedic pillow they have troubles adjusting to it. This makes them believe that its useless to have one, because they sleep worse than before. But theres a trick to it! You need to make the transition easy for your body. This is why, it is recommended that for the first few nights, to use both pillows. You should try sleeping a couple of hours using your old pillow, then switch to your orthopedic one, and so on and so forth. Your body will soon realize that its better to and more relaxing to sleep on the orthopedic pillow, and youll find that you get a better sleep using it rather than your old pillow.
