So you have fallen to the irritating PS3 red light. Now, what can you do to fix the PS3 flashing red light, quickly? Well firstly I would try turning it off and on again. Sadly, if that doesn't work, you can try the things below.

There are a few things other things that can cause this problem:

1)Overheating - If you are playing your PS3 and suddenly it cuts off and has a flashing Red light then it has probably overheated. To solve this leave it in a well ventilated area for about 20 minutes then. Try it again.

Tip: You should always play your PS3 in a well ventilated area on a smooth, hard surface so that its cooling system works effectively. Never play it on a carpet cause that can trap heat and block the PS3's vents!

2)HDD problem- The Flashing red light may be caused by a problem with the hard disk. Try removing the hard disk (the instructions are in the user's manual) and putting it back in.

3)Some other and more seriously hardware problem- If this is the case your PS3 will need repairs. In order to do this you can do 2 things: send it to Sony, or Fix your PS3 yourself.

If you send your PS3 to Sony then you will be charged around $150 (Unless it is still under warranty). Also you will have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your PS3 back...or they may give you a refurbished unit instead. If your PS3 is still under warranty I recommend this option because if you open the case of the PS3 then you will void your warranty.

For those unlucky enough to get this problem after their warranty has expired then you may want to get a good PS3 repair guide and fix the PS3 flashing red light yourself.
