How To Fix A Jam In The Bb Gun

By:

In order to try and fix any kind of jam in a BB gun, we need to first understand the features and the operational principal behind the working of a BB gun.

Features

The BB guns are mainly steel made. Because of this light weighted ness, magnets are used in the barrels of the BB gun as to hold on to the BB pallets which are very hard and are not easy to enter in to the barrels. The magnet holds on to the pallets and does not allow it to spin out of the barrel.
Basic principal behind its operation
The principal that makes BB guns work is based on the expansion properties of the gaseous medium. Before the guns get fired the gases are compressed to increase their density and create a pressure which is more than the air pressure outside the gun. The gas which has been compressed is kept stored in a container which is airtight. When the trigger is pulled the gas container opens up and collects behind the BB pallet. As the compressed gas exerts a higher pressure therefore the BB gets push shoved forward with greater speed. The principal remains the same in all the BB guns except the source for the compressed gas might differ.

Fixing a jam

There are three main reasons when a BB gun can get jammed-
1. Due to improper feeding.
2. Using a damaged shot.
3. Using other than the prescribed BB pallet.
4. Jammed trigger.

The above problems can be rectified as such-

1. To remove an improper feeding or damaged shot use oil and a light rubber stick to gently poke the pellet out. Next when the BB gun is to get loaded the muzzle of the gun needs to be raised a little when the gun is held straight.
2. Using other than the exclusive BB shots can also create jams in the BB nozzle. Therefore care should be taken that BB shots are only used to fire the gun.
3. In case the trigger gets jammed, put the Daisy BB gun up side down on a paper and use a WD-40 lubricant in to the mechanism of the trigger. Allow the trigger to dry for an hour before reusing it.

For preventing further jams the upkeep of the gun is essential. For this oiling should be done regularly after about every five hundred shots. The BB guns should not be dissembled very often. In case it needs to be dismantled a professional help should be taken to reassemble it.
