How To Find The Right Professional Voice Teacher

By:

When choosing the right professional voice teacher in Singapore, there are many things to consider. How they sing is only a minor consideration. Because there are many great singers that are lousy at teaching, and the same is true with the reverse. There are many good teachers that are not really great singers. You need to identify the right qualifications before you can go out and look for that perfect teacher.

There are many people who are great at singing but suck at teaching it. At the same time, some wonderful teachers can't sing as well as Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. You just have to know what the qualifications of a good teacher are, then find him/her.

Of course, there's the importance of talent. It's not really important that he isn't the best singer in the world, but some good qualities in his voice should be present. The teachers strength should fill up your weaknesses. If you can't control the power of your voice, a teacher who has great control would be right for you.

The Singapore vocal teacher should be able to teach the style you want to learn. Tell this to the potential candidate early on, before the lessons start.

The last thing you want to do is ruin your personal style and preference in singing. Ask him if he honestly wants to teach your preferred style, and if he can teach it properly. He must be able to build up your technique and singing abilities since this is the main reason you're hiring him.

Another important thing you have to find out is whether you're comfortable with each other. It should be both ways since a Singapore voice teacher can't be at his best if he isn't relaxed with you. Of course, you won't easily notice it because he will be professional, but have a feel of him.

The same goes with you. There should be respect and admiration on your part to motivate you to learn under his tutelage. Motivation should come from him and if he can't do that to you, then you should probably look for somebody else.

Also, do not forget to ask for a quotation for each lesson, so you will know how much he will be charging you. Even if he is the best one around, it would still depend on the budget you have for a voice lesson. The more popular he is, the more likely that his salary is high. You should find the right proportion between talent and budget. One cannot live without the other. You'll find someone I'm sure.

When you're already taking lessons, don't be afraid to make mistakes. Whether you sing like a cockroach or like the next singing prodigy, your teacher must accept and teach you to be a better singer. There should be something new for you to learn with every lesson. You can learn more about proper breathing, a better style, express your emotions better, etc.

When it seems like the teacher is unable to make any progress with your playing, then it's time to let him go and find somebody else. Results should be apparent even after just two or three lessons. There should have been an improvement in at least one area of your playing. Talking to him first would help though, to see if it's just his method. To retain him is to waste your time and money. Do not allow him to sway you with any excuses. It's easy to drop a voice teacher, but have good reason for doing it.
