How To Find The Right Carpeting For Your Home

By:

The carpeting selected is a crucial part of the design of any home. A lot of homeowners like carpet flooring stretching from one wall to another, but some go with the area rugs that are smaller and cover certain parts of the floor. Finding the ideal carpet will spice up any room in the house, creating a nice and elegant design. Carpet installation will also provide insulation for a home and make the home feel warmer.

In order to find the best carpeting for your house, you need to pay attention to some various factors. First thing to look at is the type of texture or fiber the carpet has? Some carpets are made from wool and some are made from synthetic. If the texture is more tightly twisted, the carpet is more likely to last longer. Longer fiber means you will have reduced amounts of shedding on the new floor. The best way to gauge the texture is to run fingers through the carpet flooring. If the fingers start to catch some fiber, the carpet may not keep its density over time.

As for the choice between wool vs synthetic, it really depends on the budget and the level of quality you're looking for in the rooms where the carpet flooring installation will occur. For quality and durability, there is no question that wool is the better choice. Wool can withstand quite a lot of pressure and maintain its condition. Heavy foot traffic is normally not a problem with wool carpeting. Maintenance is also a snap because it can be cleaned quite easily with a vacuum cleaner or just a stain remover. Also, the choice of colors is greater with wool. If you are on a very limited budget or installing carpeting in a room perhaps in the basement or a small bathroom where quality as much of an issue, then synthetic will do. Though not as good as wool, today's technology has made synthetic much better than in years past. It is now more crush and stain resistant and is able to give a shiny look that some might mistake for wool.

When selecting the ideal carpeting, color is always a big thing to consider. The color of your carpet flooring depends heavily on the design of the room and the amount of foot traffic you expect. The color you choose should complement the design of the room. For example, if the room has plain colored walls, then the carpeting should be a brighter color, and vice versa. For rooms like kitchens and bathrooms with higher traffic and greater chance of spills, a darker color may be best. With rooms that get less of the sun during the day, bright colors can help them look lighter.

The last thing to consider is the carpet installation. If you are a "handy man", then it may be a job you can do yourself. However, many times an amateur installation job is easy to spot. When it comes time to sell the home, the last thing you need is to give a potential buyer a reason to cross your home off the list. if you're not totally comfortable with how to install the carpet, it may be worth spending a few extra bucks to have a professional install it right the first time.
