How To Find New Fleet Vehicles

By:

Finding new fleet vehicles is about the same level of ease as finding ordinary vehicles to purchase. Whether the buyer is a business that is interested in buying an actual fleet, or group, of vehicles or is an individual who would like to skip the hard sell tactics of ordinary car salesmen, fleet vehicles are an interesting option. The following are some notes and tips regarding buying fleet vehicles:

Local Auto Dealerships
The place to begin looking for new fleet vehicles is at an ordinary local dealership. Most ordinary auto dealerships have their own fleet department. This is a special sales office that deals with fleet sales sales of sets of new cars. There are few things you should know about fleet sales:

1> Less Expensive
Fleet vehicles are often very inexpensive on a per car basis. The dealership only makes a small profit on individual cars because they expect to sell large number of them and to do so quickly. They realize that businesses do not have the time for or interest in getting into lengthy price negotiations about individual cars. They also realize businesses have only so much money to spend on vehicles, so they price them to move.

2> No Pressure Sales
One of the nice perks about fleet sales is that it is blessedly free of the pressure sales tactics many people have come to associate with new car sales and salesmen. As noted above, salesmen would be acting at cross purposes to their intentions if they entered into long and involved price haggling with customers. They would never be able to sell enough cars and turn them over quickly enough if they did. So the salespeople in the fleet department of an auto dealership essentially skip the sales routine and get right down to business of selling cars at rock bottom prices.

3> Fixed Prices
Fleet vehicles have fixed prices for these same reasons. That skips the negotiation phase and allows the buyer to just decide if they would like the new car or cars at the price the dealer is offering. Since they are usually inexpensive, the fleet dealer hops that the buyer will buy all of their fleet cars at their dealership.

Fleet Departments at Various Dealerships
Shop around at various dealerships and ask to talk to managers of their fleet departments. You should be able to get price quotes on particular fleet vehicles without a lot of sales talk getting in the way. Sometimes you can even get quotes over the phone. Compare the prices offered by various fleet dealers.

Specialty Dealers
If you are in the market for some kind of specialty vehicles for a business like tractors or dump trucks, you will probably need to find a dealer that specializes in these types of vehicles. If you have difficulty finding such dealers, use the internet or ask ordinary local car dealerships.

What you Need to Finalise the Deal
As an individual or business buying fleet cars, you will need the same basic items as if you were buying a car in an ordinary way. You will need your drivers license, other forms of identification, and to fill out the paperwork for purchase at the dealership. They may run a background check. If you are a business the dealer may ask for the business name and you will need to furnish them with information about the payment method such as a company account.
