The latest craze for fitness happens to be something called boot camp fitness, this means working out with other people on a wide assortment of cardio and muscle fitness. It's fun, addictive, and gives you a great exercise regime. But you'll have to find a boot camp class in Portland or wherever it is you live or work.

This type of exercise regime is usually attacked first thing in the morning but you can find classes at other times of the day. Basically you'll meet up with others who are at the same fitness level for a great work out together. Doing it with others makes it more fun and of course, more like a camp as well.

You'll have an instructor that will offer encouragement throughout the session. The type of instructor varies quite a bit from those that offer traditional Sergeant type encouragement to those that are a little more quiet about it. Make sure you find out the style of the instructor before you join, you'll want what works for you.

You'll then do a variety of exercises that will include jumping jacks, push-ups, running, and other types of calisthenics. Many people really enjoy the camaraderie as well as the fact that all are at about the same fitness level.

Meeting at dawn or there about lends a very specific quality to the program and many of them run year round and that means getting outside even during the winter months. So whether it's dawn in the summer, or heading out at dark in the winter, you'll find that it's exhilarating to be outside at that time of day.

Call around to find the boot camp near you, talk with the instructor, and then enjoy getting fit with others just like you. Many people have found success with this type of class versus indoor fitness cubs and programs. Perhaps it's because you're all at the same level, or maybe it's just getting outside in the fresh air, whatever the reason you're bound to get fit and you'll probably lose a few pounds as well.
