How To Find A New Job With Satellite Internet Service

By:

As the Internet continues to redefine every aspect of our lives, the way we work and the way we find new employment are certainly no exception. Gone are the days of going through the classified sections of newspapers with highlighter pens. The Internet allows employers and job-seekers to communicate with more immediacy and more efficiently than every before. However, there are a set of new norms and principles of etiquette that it is important to be aware of when finding a job through the Internet.

The first thing to do when looking for a job on the Internet is to know your audience. If you are looking for employment in a specialized field, you should definitely consult websites that are used to hire professionals from those fields. People in technology fields in particular use a variety of specialized websites depending on the skills and abilities needed in a particular job. If you are not sure of what specialized websites to use, or even if any exist, you can always try the best known Internet job search websites, which these days appear to be Craigslist and Monster. Both sites have their advantages and disadvantages but are fully accessible through satellite broadband services.

Monster tends to be used by many large corporations, if that is where your interest in working lies. However, it is arguable that Monster, like many of the larger commercial job search websites, is not very well moderated. A quick browse through many of the listings on Monster will show that many of the same jobs have been repeated for the same companies, making it harder to page through the listings. While Monster surely does its best to prevent its job search listings from being filled with spam, it does not seem to take a proactive approach toward this kind of behavior with companies that may have large accounts. Still, Monster will have many listings for major, prestigious companies that Craigslist will just not.

The advantage of Craigslist seems to be that it is well moderated in terms of spam and multiple postings. The majority of offers on Craigslist seem to be legitimate, and these days it seems like everyone knows someone who found a job on Craigslist. The disadvantage of Craigslist is that many smaller employers use it without really knowing the first thing about hiring an employee. Although the ads on Craigslist may be genuine, many of them are just bizarre, with some offering payment in terms of foot massages, for example. While employers generally have to register to post jobs on Monster, you can get an ad up on Craiglist with just a few clicks, which lends its users to this kind of behavior.

With all Internet job searching, the most important piece of advice is to read the ad carefully. If the ad says to highlight something in your cover letter, highlight it. If the ad says no calls, don't call. Employers who use the Internet to find employees prize efficiency, and don't want their time wasted by people who can't follow written instructions. With access to all of the resources on resumes, cover letters, and job searching that a satellite broadband service provides, you should have no problems carrying out any instructions in a job posting.
