How To Find A Full-time Online Job

By:

Many people think of online work as a means of getting supplemental income, a way to do some freelance projects on the side. And it can be if that's all you want. But many people are finding they can get full-time employment on the web, which offers them the salary and benefits of any other full-time job without the hassle of a commute or harassment from customers and co-workers.

There are a few ways you can increase your chances of landing a full-time online job. First, if you don't have already a PayPal account, get one. Many online companies only want to deal with electronic payment systems when it comes to compensating their employees. And it's a good idea to have the PayPal account you use for work separate from your main bank account. You should also have an email account and, ideally, a cell phone you can use strictly for business. That way, your personal messages won't get mixed up with business messages and won't distract you when you're on the job.

You also need a secure, up-to-date computer and the latest software so you can provide your employers with acceptable documents, presentations, slideshows and whatever else they might want from you. You should have a decent printer, too, as well as a reliable means of backing up all your data. It wouldn't hurt to have a backup computer available, either, in case your main computer is somehow compromised; that way, you'll still be able to do your work for a day. Any full-time employer is going to want to know that you have the technological tools to get the job done; they don't want to take a chance on someone using a sputtering PC from 1995.

When you're looking for a full-time job online, you'll first want to locate websites that list online job openings. Find several such sites that provide lots of listings, and then read them every day, first thing in the morning. Find at least a few jobs for which you're qualified and that appeal to you, research those companies, produce three cover letters using your main cover letter template (each cover letter should include information specific to each company) and then email those letters out along with your resume.

As soon as you hear back from any of these companies, respond right away. And if you're in the enviable position of having to choose between jobs, try to accept a job with the company or firm that's been in business the longest and seems to have the most solid reputation. After all, that will be the company with the best chance of staying in business for a long time, which means extra job security for you.

Be patient and plan on spending a long time finding your ideal online job. There's a lot of competition for these kinds of jobs, but be assured your patience will be rewarded in time.
