How To Extend Your Laptop Battery Power Life

By:

Where a typical battery in a notebook today can last anywhere from three to four hours, one which is powering a notebook running these programs can be limited to a fraction of its running time. The use of various methods can culminate in increasing battery life.
Click "Start," then go to "All Programs," then "Accessories" and finally "System Tools."
To help your laptop better remember whose boss and provide you with full charge cycles here is something you can try. First, give your battery a full charge then let the juice run completely out. If you do this a series of time (recommended 3) you provide your battery with the best chance of acting like new. No guarantees here, just an idea to try for extending your laptop battery life.
Click the left mouse button to choose your main partition. Click the "Analyze and Defragment" button in the "Disk Defragementer" program and wait for defragmentation to finish.
Instead, for best performance from your laptop notebook batteries do not use it unless you need it. That way it will be available for you when you need it. Also, when on battery power lower the screen brightness to increase the amount of performance you receive from your laptop battery. Another recommendation is to set your computer to automatically sleep or hibernate when not in use for 5 or 10 minutes.
Laptops can run very hot sometimes. Putting a hot laptop in a hot environment doesn't do anything for the longevity of the device involved. However, environmental conditions are not always controllable, especially on hot summer days. Therefore, buy a fan tray for your computer to rest on instead of forcing it to perform beyond its capabilities.
In "Properties" click the "Screensaver" tab. Click the screensaver drop-down menu and choose the "No Screensaver" option. In the same tab menu click the "Power Options" tab.
Click the power options drop-down menu in the new dialog box which appears. Choose the "Portable/Laptop" or "Power Saver" option depending on your version of windows. Click "OK" when done.
Access your laptop's "Boot" menu by continuously pressing the "F2" key during startup. Failing that, the laptop's motherboard manual can be consulted to find the appropriate key.
Reconnect your external power supply and allow your battery to fully charge. Repeating this step at least five times will allow your battery to overcharge, thus extending its lifespan.
Laptop batteries increasingly last longer. Still, over time, the life of a battery will diminish significantly. Without a long battery life, your laptop basically becomes a desktop. Enhancing the life of your laptop battery can save money and put off the need to purchase another one.
Turn off all programs you do not need. Some programs, such as Limewire, ITunes and Desktop Search, run in the background. These take up energy and exiting the programs will prolong your battery life.
Hibernate your computer instead of using standby. This will decrease small leaks of power while you are not using the computer. It shuts down your computer completely and resumes your processes right where you left them.
Dim your laptop screen. Most laptops have an option to adjust the brightness of your screen on the keyboard. Dimming the screen will take less energy and therefore prolong the life of the battery.
