The first thing you need to do when you are planning to visit Barcelona is of course to set up your accommodations. Barcelona features some 1 star to 5 star accommodations in various hotels scattered throughout the beautiful city, but of course hotels tend to be expensive and many people find them terribly limiting too. They often wish that the hotels were self-catering which means that they would have the ultimate privacy of an apartment, as well as being able to cook in them if one did not feel like going to the hotel restaurant or elsewhere. Eating out is often regarded as extravagantly expensive too if one does not know the city well.

Thus as part of enjoying your trip to Barcelona, planning for your accommodations is a primal desire that needs to be fulfilled in the best manner. Not everyone can afford those expensive hotels either.

No wonder then that holiday apartment rentals are becoming so popular as an alternative to hotels! Their placement is usually right in the middle of the most interesting portions of the city, such as in or around Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas, you see, is a beautiful tree-lined pedestrian mall that attracts many tourists as a "do not miss" destination. You will see many street performers there, and incredible stalls filled with flowers for sale.

Las Ramblas is also the home of Centre d'Art Santa Monica, a wonderful public museum for contemporary art. The street market known as El Mercat de la Boqueria will allow you to purchase fresh fruits as well as all manner of local vegetables to take to your holiday apartment rental, as the locals do.
