Every 3 hours the researcher ate one deep fried Twinkie cake (mini sponge with cream inside). This was instead of normal meals. He also ate Doritos, Oreo biscuits and Kellog's Pops cereals. Each day he drank 1 double shot espresso. To make the diet slightly more healthy the diet was topped up with a daily multi vitamin tablet, a protein shake and some vegetables. The total limit of 1800 calories was adhered to.

What he was trying to prove, and seemed to do so by his 10 week weight loss of nearly 2 stones, was that you could fast diet successfully just by limiting calories and the calorie reduction was more important than the kind and quality of the food you ate. Certainly the additional vitamins and proteins that were added to the daily diet showed that the basic foods chosen were of very low nutritional quality.

The researcher had to do something fairly extreme to prove his point and you don't get much more extreme than eating nothing but sugary and fatty junk for ten weeks. This extreme test showed that a low calorie fast diet can work successfully. The researcher proved his point that reduced calories over a fairly short time can lead to a good weight loss. Is eating loads of cake a good way to achieve your aim? No, it's not. It's a terribly unhealthy way to achieve your dieting aims! You have to establish an eating pattern that you can keep to most of the time so you can lose weight and keep it off. It's the healthy foods and not vast amount of cake that will keep you healthy, slim and reduce your fat and cellulite problems.
