How To Do Wallpaper Scrap Dcor

If you are one of those brave souls that bucked the trend and decided to add wallpaper to your bedroom or kitchen, you are bound to be wondering what you are going to do with those scraps of "Oh-So-Expensive" designer paper that you had left over. Never fear. You can do plenty! There are many accessory ideas you can create with a few flashes of brilliance, wallpaper scraps, and some glue.

Armoire or Closet. If you have an armoire or closet doors that are paneled, consider cutting the paper to fit the inside of the panel. The inset of wallpaper will liven up the armoire or door and complement the walls, giving a cohesive look. Might I suggest you refrain from doing this to Grandma's antique cherry armoire, but it dresses up a thrift shop or yard sale piece?

Drawer Lining. Wallpaper scraps make great drawer lining. Just cut to fit then apply water or wallpaper paste to the backing and apply. It makes the inside of the drawers look as elegant as the outside.

Art. You can use wallpaper scraps in two ways. You can frame several designs in the wallpaper (a graphic or floral element) with matching black frames with a solid mat. Create a grouping that provides a great focal point in the room. Or you can use the wallpaper to make mats to frame family photos. Again, use matching black or metal frames and group together.

Boxes. If you have a plain wooden or cardboard box, create a pretty jewelry or trinket box by covering it with wallpaper. Add a little ribbon, button, or braid trim and place it on the bedside table or dresser. Elegance for pennies!

Coasters. Easy and inexpensive coaster can be made from squares of wallpaper scraps. Simply laminate to make them more durable and waterproof.

So don't throw away those wallpaper scraps! With these ideas you can easily recycle that pattern that you love. Oh, and did I tell you that book covers are easily made from the same scraps?
