How To Defend Against Dog Bites And Dog Attacks

Some of my fellow geezers in my building and I started the 'rolling thunder walking club' about a year and a half ago. Membership is cheap, the exercise is good and the camaraderie can't be beat.

The peer pressure of having other people involved is a lowly technique to ensure participation but it works. And at our age you need every advantage.

We go walking in a residential neighborhood and see an occasional bear. Occasionally we see deer. Practically every day we see stray dogs.

Dog bites and dog attacks are a rapidly growing problem in the United States with over 5 million people bitten every year and nearly 1,000,000 of those requiring hospitalization. I don't have a lot of sympathy for dog owners who don't follow leash laws or dogs that are running around loose.

The memory of a dog attack and dog bite from 15 years ago still burns in my memory. That just won't go away.

The best dog attack prevention and self defense against dogs is the pepper gun. And because of the business I'm in I am the designated protector of our group. An awesome responsibility!
