How To Create An Ideal Entryway For Your Home

By:

Do you pay attention to your entryway the same way you do with the rest of your house? You should! Bear in mind the impression you make with having a cluttered, soiled and plain entryway. This is the entrance to your home, so start the beautiful mark right there, where you enter your house.

Decorating goes better if you have a clean space to work on. Avoid creating mess in the entryway. Strewn shoes, coats and hats are not cute! Have storage for these items, especially if you're having a gathering and more of these things will surface. You can buy a small closet or a coat rack. If you implement the Asian custom of taking off the shoes before entering the home (this is great for maintaining cleanliness), have a shoe shelf for storing footwear and possibly some house slippers for the guests.

Make the entryway attractive by painting it a new color or repainting the old color. This way, the space will look fresh. If you want a different motif, consider a shade that looks inviting and cheery. You can also paint a neutral shade then mix it with a brighter color for a dramatic effect.

Decorate the Area- Even if the entrance area is not separate from the rest of the home, you can easily make it feel as such with your decorations. Choose light and lively wall hangings to bring a sense of warmth to the area. If the entranceway to your home leads directly into your living room, consider placing a large piece of furniture, such as a sofa to create a feeling of separation between the two areas.

Add a Second Door - A screen door or a storm door can immediately flood the area with light, making it look much more inviting. In the spring and fall, you may enjoy the fresh air that the screen door will allow in. Choose a door that locks for your safety and make sure your children use the door handle instead of pushing on the glass or screen. This will prevent injuries from possible broken glass or scratches from a broken screen.

Lighting is also very important. Have sufficient amount of lighting that is not blinding yet not too dim. Just enough is the keyword.

Decorating the entryway is well worth the effort. It's an investment for improving your home. What a great way to welcome guests and for coming home, don't you think?
