A Memorial Scrapbook is used to honor and remember special people. Because they are about our loved ones, it may be hard to start your scrap book. I hope these ideas will remove that block and let all the good memories bring your creative ideas to the pages of your Memorial Scrapbook.
Documenting Their Life with Journaling
-- This will be an emotional but very rewarding endeavor. Ask family and friends to share their thoughts of good times, favorite memories, funny antidotes, etc. This is a celebration of their life so it will be fun to remember the good times, and may even be mixed with a few Happy Tears. That's OK too.
-- You should also try to find items that document their activities. You may find annual Christmas letters, personal greeting cards, and similar family communications to be helpful. Take excerpts if you must, but having a copy of the complete document will be most interesting and unusual.
-- If they had a favorite author, make a list of their books and add it to a page. If they had a favorite poet, include a copy of a poem too. The same can be said for their favorite music, musician, or singer. If they love the outdoors, talk about that too.
-- If you are creating this scrap book for someone else, you should include space for them to add their own personal comments and thoughts.
Documenting Their Life with Pictures
-- Your best resource for pictures will be their family and friends. And a tip from my experience helping others with Memory Scrapbooks... look at the back of the picture! Copy the back of the picture and add it to your scrap book page. It will be a nice record of their handwriting... something you'll appreciate even more as the years pass.
-- If they had pets, make sure you include pictures of them too. They are often a very important member of the family and you wouldn't want to leave them out.
-- When you can find them, include newspaper or magazine articles about their profession, or even of their particular job. This will be interesting to the next generation who will be sharing these memories.
Now You're Ready To Create Your Scrapbook
I hope these ideas help you create beautiful scrap book pages to document the life of a special person. Once you overcome the emotional challenges of working on their book, you'll come to realize what a gift and treasure your Memorial Scrapbook will be for yourself, family and friends.
