How To Cook-up A Great Holiday

A family holiday has a surprising amount of similarities to a homemade cake! And if you do not choose the correct ingredients, then it will often turn out to be a total disaster... A badly-prepared holiday can sag in the middle, be too wet or it can simply leave an unpleasant, cloying aftertaste in our mouth!

Of course, there are a number of ingredients which are completely beyond our control... we certainly have no power over the Great British weather for instance (!). And if our car decides to break down; there is precious little we can do about it (apart from laughing it off and paying to have it repaired).

However, we do have the ability to put the main ingredients in place, such as; the cost, location and duration of our break. So, the choices we make with these will have a very large effect on exactly what emerges from the 'holiday oven'...

As British holiday destinations go, Norfolk has a great choice of ingredients. Like all good locations, it has generous helpings of diversity, charm and character along with a pinch of something for everyone in the family. There are numerous country walks to go on, several historical sites to visit and some beautiful stretches of coastline to enjoy. And anyone who is looking for shopping facilities or nightlife will find an excellent choice in Norfolk's three main urban areas; Norwich, Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn.

But another key ingredient in a holiday 'recipe' is accommodation. And if this is unsatisfactory, it can have an enormously detrimental effect on your 'holiday cake'... Fortunately, this area in Eastern England has a great variety of accommodation for its tourists and there are numerous bed and breakfasts, hotels or Norfolk cottages to consider.

So, whilst some of your 'cake' will simply be down to luck, an experienced chief/holidaymaker will understand how important it is to stick to a good recipe!
