While steaming crab legs is pretty easy, you should make sure that you have the right tools to steam your crab. You will need: a large pot or a steamer and a rack to lower the legs into the water.

To begin place 2 cups of water into your large pot or steamer with a tablespoon of salt and let the water boil. While you are waiting for the water to boil you can situate the crab legs on the rack.

It is important to be careful not to overcook the crab as it is very common for crab legs to already be cooked when you buy them. Once your crab are done you can serve them up with some melted butter or with a sauce made of mayonnaise and cocktail sauce.

To boil your crab you would use large sauce pan half filled with water. You should add a tablespoon of salt and any seasonings you want to add to the water while it's boiling.

Once the water is boiling put the crab legs into the pan and boil them for 5 to 7 minutes. Once you think they are done rinse them in cool water and you will be ready to serve them.

Another option to cook your crab legs is to bake them. When you bake crab you have to crack each leg to ensure that it is cooked properly. First pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

You will need to crack each individual leg and then place it on a baking sheet. Next you should brush melted butter or olive oil with seasonings onto each leg and bake them for about 8 minutes.
