How To Compose Your First Song?

Want to dedicate a love song to your beloved but want it to be special? Have got this wonderful tune playing in your head that you wish make a song out of? Are you an amateur and want to compose that special first song?

Here are few simple steps to compose your first song

Theme of the song
Think over the theme of the song and be very clear about the purpose of the song. Are you trying o express love to someone, are you trying to impress someone with your talent, are you targeting a bigger audience or is it a customized song?

Keep it simple
Only by keeping it simple will you make it effective.

Write lyrics
Now that you have the theme in your mind, write lyrics for the song. You may also take the help of your friends in writing the lyrics. Some singers choose popular poems and use them as lyrics for their songs. If you come across such poems that fit the mood of your song and dont cause any patent issues, you can go ahead with them.
Some of us are able to write the tune and the lyrics at the same time while some of us arent. We just play a tune in our minds and think of words that go with it.

Music setting

Procure musical instruments that would be needed to accompany the vocals. Make sure that there are optimum number of instruments and that none of the instruments dominates the vocals.
Decide on chorus
If you have a band of yours or have friends who can lend their voice, you can include chorus in your song but make sure it is not a forced chorus. It must neatly blend with the song, music and feel of the composition.

Record:
If you dont have or cant find a studio to record, make the best out of what you have. A quiet room with less echo effect in it and less or nil sound pollution in the vicinity is ideal. Switch off the fan or air conditioner since they make a constant sound that can affect the audio quality of recording.

Replay- check- re-record:
Replay the song after recording and if you are not satisfied with what you hear, redo the whole process.
