How To Clean Your Bathtub

By:

It is important to have a clean bathtub because thats where you and your family bathe. Bathing is useless if the place or thing you bathe is dirty anyway. Cleaning the bath tub, just like cleaning everything else, may be a laborious task, but somebodys got to do it especially if you bathe your little one in it as well. Make it a point to clean your bathtub once a month, especially if more than two family members use it.

Things you will need:

Bathtub cleaner
Sponge
Paper towels or rags
Bleach
Baking soda
Plastic gloves
Drain cleaner
Rubber gloves

Heres how to clean the bathtub:

Buy a bathtub cleaning product. Opt for one that is baby-safe and environment-friendly, yet cleans and removes scum effectively. Choose one that use organic and plant-based cleaning agents.
Gather all the things you will need to clean the tub.
Remove the bath mat.
Cover the while tub with foamy soap. Make sure you do not miss a spot. Get to those hard-hard-to-reach areas where dirt, grime and germs build up. Allow the soap to sit for a few minutes.
Put your rubber gloves on. Get your sponge and dampen it with warm water. Scrub the entire tub. Any buildup or scum should come off fairly easily so you should be able to remove all of it.
Run the shower faucet with warm water. Using a rag. Rinse off all the soap and scum into the drainer. Make sure you get to all the soap and that all of it goes down the drain.

Cleaning tiles

Some bathtub cleaners also double as tile cleaners. Spray all tile surfaces with your cleaner. Let it stand for a few minutes then rinse it all off. Use as a disinfectant to take out germs and odor. Choose a mild disinfectant since regular bleach could be harmful to your child. Douse a clean rag or paper towel and give your tiles a good wipe down. You could also use disinfectant wipes to clean your tiles.

Getting rid of stains
For stains that refuse to come off with the use of the bathtub cleaner, use baking soda. It is a safe and effective way to remove stubborn bathtub and tile stains. Sprinkle some baking soda directly on the stains. Take your bathtub cleaner and then spray some on top of the baking soda. Let it sit for about 10 minutes then take a wet sponge and scrub on the area until the stain comes off. If the stain still persists, a small amount of ammonia ought to do the trick. Make sure to thoroughly rinse it off as ammonia can be harmful to your baby skin.

Cleaning the bathtub drain
Remove all the hair and residue collected on the drain. Using your disinfectant and paper towel, wipe down the drain thoroughly. Run hot water for about a minute then pour 1oz. of drain clog remover down your drain and flush it down with about 16oz. of water.
