How To Clean Suede?

By:

Suede is an amazing material. I could cuddle with my suede back forever. But when it comes to cleaning, suede gives you a hard time. If you are not considering to take your suede handbag or shoes to a professional, try following these tips and guidelines.
Start rubbing your suede bag or shoes with a suede brush to perk the nap up. Alternatively, you can use a bath towel.
Once the nap is up use a suede rubber. Suede rubbers are not very expensive and work well.
If you do not have a suede rubber, try to remove the stains by rubbing pencil erasers over them
Use a suede bush over the bag
Do not apply any cleaners or polish as yet
Take a piece of clean cloth and dampen it slightly
Spray white vinegar on the damp cloth and use it to rub the dirt off the suede. This method should be seen as the last resort.
Fresh Stains
If there is a fresh stain like ink or blood, do not push too hard lest the stain may move deeper into the suede. Use a paper towel to absorb the wet stain and once it seems dried up, use a suede eraser and a suede brush. You may also try sand paper as an alternative.
Last Resorts
Some people also use bread to clean off stains from the suede. You might want to try that for yourself. White vinegar works better but as said, that is the last resort. Another option is using Windex. That is right; it is used to clean windows but has a reputation of working fine with suede.
Prevention is always better than cure. You should keep your suede hand bag clean and keep on using the cleaner that you got with it frequently after use. This would keep the suede looking fresh and functional and in case it gets stained up, you can deal with it more easily than having to deal with an all-dirty handbag that has a stain on it.
A useful tip to deal with water marks on your suede shoes is that as you leave them to dry, inset crumpled paper inside the shoe so maintain the shape as it dries up. Then use a suede bush or, as an alternative, a bath towel and brush it up until the nice cuddly look is back.
