How To Clean Rust-free Grill Gates?

Grill gates are the ones on top of your barbecue grill. It is where you place the food that you are going to cook. There are a lot of grill grates and one of the most favorite of all iron grill grate. Most of the time, in cleaning this type of grill grates may involve the usage of steel wool. A disadvantage of this-all-time favorite is that it has a tendency to rust if not washed and dried properly.
Here is a simple procedure to clean those rusty grill grates;
First, heat the grill for about 15 minutes so that the grease will be removed. In removing the oil and grease early on you cleaning can help you save time.
After heating the grill, brush off the rust with the use of brass-bristled brushes for grills. Also, start brushing lightly and then increase the force of your brushing slowly. Scrub back and forth to scrape the rust on the grill grates.
After brushing, you can shower an amount of baking soda on top of the part of the grill with visible rusts. Baking soda is helpful in cleaning grill grates because it does not easily damage metal materials. Place the grill grates with baking soda on the heat and as the baking soda heats the carbon dioxide from the baking soda will make the rust softer to brush off.
After cooling the grill grates, spray an amount of vinegar on the grate. Vinegar aids in removing rusts on the grates because it contains acetic acid which oxidizes the rust without harming the grill grates. As you clean the grates, you can apply or spray more vinegar as desired to remove rust. Remove the rust with a rag which has the vinegar solution.
You can now rub the grill grates with sand paper to totally remove the rusts. Take only a small piece of sand paper to brush of rust to not totally scratch the material of the grate. You can slide the sand paper back and forth on the affected area with the needed force.
Most of the grill grates that have rusted often build up rust because of improper storage. This is when you just leave your grill outside during winter. So, might as well store your grill properly to avoid rust. To surely keep you grill rust-free clean the grill grates with grill brush after you have used it. This cleaning process will remove the grease and oil on the food that you have cooked and will eventually get rid of rust build-up.
