In order to clean my PC, Windows provides many built in features that can help you maintain and optimize your PC. Apart from PC utilities such as disk clean up and disk defragment, you can customize Windows with a few registry tricks. The following are some tips using the registry editor to make changes to your PC. Please note this should be done if you are comfortable in making changes to the registry.

Complete Removing Programs from Control Panel's Add and Remove Programs menu.
If you eliminate a program by removing the files, it may still show in the Add and Remove programs list in the Control Panel.
Following are the steps to remove it completely from your system with the help of registry editor.
1. Open Registry editor from start- Run- Type in regedit and press OK
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall
3. Delete any programs here.
If you are finding a problem locating the desired program open each key and notice the DisplayName value

Protection on system files to prevent any external infection and unauthorized access to your system
To enable protection on system files such as the KnownDLLs list, add the following value;

1. Open Registry editor from start- Run- Type in regedit and press OK
2. Go to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Control\ SessionManager
3. Create the a Dword value and name it "ProtectionMode
4. Put the Value to 1

Turn Off Window Animation which can help you to get some speed
You can turn off the animation opened when you minimize and maximize Windows.
1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control panel \Desktop\ WindowMetrics
3. Create a new string value "MinAnimate".
4. Set the value data of 0 for off or 1 for on

Apart from the above mentioned points and tricks you may need to consider the following points that must be followed in order to maintain your PC for a long time.

1.Always make more than one partition in your hard drive. Install the lager applications such as adobes Photoshop in the other drive then the system drive. C drive is used for virtual memory in your system. So it is advised to keep the C drive as empty as possible.
2.While installing new application uncheck the option of having a tray icon. Tray icons use your random access memory which slows down the overall performance of your system.
3.After closing all the applications in your system refresh the system. It releases temp files from your RAM.
4.Empty your desktop as much as possible as this is the working area of CPU.
5.Never use more than one antivirus program in the same PC.
6.Disable unnecessary Windows services, settings, and programs that slow down your computer.
