How To Clean Mag Wheels?

By:

Aluminum MAG wheels look extremely classy and to maintain the classiness you need to take care of them very frequently. The magnesium gets oxidized and gets very unsightly. To maintain the beautiful look and the elegance, make sure you clean the wheels frequently. This way they would keep shining and add to the glamour as you drive.
Here are some tips and instructions for the cleaning your aluminum magnesium wheels. Before you start cleaning your MAG, ensure that your brakes are cool. If not, let the temperature decline. Spraying cool water over hot wheels would cause them to warp and so is not advisable. Likewise, spraying hot water over a cool wheel would cause spotting. Therefore, wait for the wheel to reach a normal temperature before you start the intervention.
Once the temperature is down, start suing the water hose and apply the pressure on the wheels. The MAG wheels pick up a lot of dirt from the roads and the debris is formed on the wheel as the dirt accumulates. The pressure exerted by the water gushing out causes the debris to be pushed out of the curves and the crevices. Exert high pressure and you would get more dirt out of the wheel.
Take a bucket and pour some liquid soap or detergent powder in it. Gradually pour warm water and shake to form a lathery suspension. Take a rag and dip it in the bucket.
With the saturated rag clean the wheel. Rub the cloth on the surface of the wheel and clean it as much as you can.
Use a brush with hark spiky bristles to clean the crevices.
Look for an aluminum cleaner that is appropriate. To check whether it should be used or not, try using a small amount on a hidden portion and ensure it is safe and does not deprive the metal of its natural color.
You can make the wheels shine by cleaning up the back side. Do this by removing the tire and cleaning up the backside using the soapy water and aluminum cleaner.
Use a clean cotton cloth to wipe off the water from the wheels and leave to dry further.
You can also get the aluminum MAG wheels polished occasionally after washing them thoroughly to add to the shine.

Warning!
Do not sue cleaners with ammonia as an ingredient. Ammonia is harmful for your aluminum wheels.
