How To Choose Your Next Mot Centre

By:

As with anything in the car industry these days, there are hundreds of people will be able to tell you their own personal horror story of bringing their card to a dodgy MOT centre of garage. Unfortunately, those who find a great MOT centre really share the information. This isn't because they're hiding anything, whether they don't want to share the big secret. The reality is, it's just human nature that we want to share bad news rather than good news. Perhaps that's a negative way of looking at it, our hands we just want to warn other people about the mistakes we've made.

So how can you find an MOT that is worth visiting? Well, the easiest way is ask your friends and family. This can be particular helpful if your close friends who live in the area. If you don't have any friends or family members nearby, or friends that drive, why not ask the people in work? A simple e-mail around the office could give you the information you are looking for, or, more than likely you will be sent back a few e-mails with details of the garages and MOT stations not to visit. Although this is not quite the information you're looking for, at least it'll help you narrow down the correct garage like taking away the ones you don't want to visit.

The key thing to look out for when choosing an MOT centre is the three blue triangle logo. All MOT centres are regulated, and all regulated, legally existing MOT centres should be prominently displaying this logo to their customers.

Make sure that the MOT centre tells you how much the MOT is going to be beforehand. The MOT should be a fixed price and you should not expect to pay more than the price quoted to you before the test.

Of course, most MOT centres don't make their extra cash from upping the price of the MOT. The real problem you've got to look out for is MOT centres and purposely fail cars in order to charge them the costs of maintenance and repairs at will be necessary to put the car through the MOT.

Be sure to check online reviews and ratings of the garage before visiting. As with most things these days from restaurants to hotels and everything in between, there are reviews and customer forums that will no doubt be filled with reviews and information from other drivers who have used the garage before.
