Here is a quick guide on how to choose the right sink for your kitchen.

A self-rimming sink
Has a rolled and finished edge or rim and is installed on the top of your kitchen counter. It is the easiest type of sink to install and can be done without damaging your existing counter top. It can also be used with various types counter top materials.

An Under mount Kitchen Sink
This is also known as a recessed sink and is installed under your counter top to create a seamless effect. It is not a good choice for all kitchens as it only works made from concrete or other solid material. If you were to install an under mount sink with a laminate the counter top will start to bubble because of the condensation under it. This type of sink is very popular because of its appearance and is also easy to clean.

Single Bowl Sinks
A single bowl has one large basin and is a great choice if you use lots of large pots and plans. They are often used as a bar sink or a second sink in an island. The single bowl sink gives you the flexibility to wash larger items.

Double Bowl Sinks
This is the most popular combination sink in kitchens today. You could have two bowls of the same size of one can be larger than the other one. It also lets more than one person use the sink at a time and allows you to multi-task. You can be preparing food on one side and washing or drying dishes on the other side. A double bowl sink is very versatile.

Triple Bowl Sink
Usually have one smaller bowl in the middle and one bowl either side. These also provide a lot of versatility in the kitchen as there is more than enough space for two or more people to work around the sink.

An Apron Front Sink
An apron front, or farmhouse, kitchen sink usually has one large bowl with an exposed front panel. It works best with country style decor in the kitchen. The unique design of the sink may need custom made cabinetry.

A Bar or Prep Sink
Bar sinks are also referred to as prep or entertainment sinks. They are usually much smaller than a traditional sink and are ideal for small spaces. They are designed to be installed in a bar, center island, or anywhere else that you want to fit a sink without a taking up a lot of space. Although they're not big enough to wash pots and pans, they're the perfect size to use while entertaining so you don't have to run to the kitchen.
Bar sinks are a perfect sink to put in a finished basement, media room, or anywhere you entertain. They add all the convenience of a sink without requiring much space.
