How To Build Big Muscles With Little Discs

By:

In theory bodybuilding is a simple science - if you build up the weights keeping your form textbook, eat enough quality food and get enough rest and sleep and stay injury free, you will get bigger - guaranteed.

Also guaranteed is that if you have one or more of these elements missing from your training, youll get inferior results.

This article focuses on a simple strategy to build up the weights you lift. Its so simple I feel a bit embarrassed writing about it, but so many people dont seem to get this.

You need to invest in a set of very small weights, say half pound weights. If you have a spare pair of dumbbell collars or barbell collars that should do the trick.

Imagine this scenario;

Youre doing the bench press and youre getting pretty near you limit weights. The smallest weight plate you have is 2.5 kilos. This means that to increase the weight for your next workout you have to add 5 kilos to the bar, or 11 pounds. If you were right on your limit before, most likely you wont make your target number of sets or reps.

Whats more, you probably wont make that target next week, or the week after, or the week after that. So what to do?

Now, if you have say 4 half pound dumbbell collars, you could add two of them to the bar, a total of one measly pound! But probably you will make your target reps and sets. Whats more, you may well be able to add another two collars to the bar the week after that. Thats two measly pounds, but it is progress.

The point is that in this way you can get a sort of gaining momentum, and as long as youre eating, sleeping and resting well, you could maybe keep this going week after week after week.

Eventually you will get up to the level where you can add those 2.5 kilo plates to the bar. This is how you get bigger. Its impractical to add conventional size plates to the bar because youre adding too much to the bar too soon. You have to earn the right to lift the heavier weight, so think of the increased weight as your reward.

It doesnt matter what you use to add the small amounts of weight, but collars are a very convenient way of doing it. You can also get small magnetic weights to do the same job.

Lets take this to the extreme - if you did this for a whole year, adding one measly pound to the bar week after week, youd add fifty pounds to your bench press in a year.

How many people do you know who can add 50 lb to their bench press each year? How about adding 50 lb to your bench every year? It is possible using this method. Using little weights to consistently build your poundages up is one of the keys to building your dream physique one for the ladies to lust over!
