How to Build a Workbench Designs

Before you start building your workbench designs, get your spaces measurement first. It is significant to measure your workspace so that you will be able to determine how much lumber you need to purchase. Bring the measurements with you when you are going to the hardware store.

Next step on completing your workbench designs is to determine the kind of lumber that you will use. Generally, most workbench designs have listed down the types of screws and wood to purchase. For those who wants a lighter and portable bench, you should use birch wood in creating your bench. Birch wood may not be as thick as beech but it is durable and can create a reliable workbench.

Circular saw
Drill or Screws and screw driver
Lumber (amount depends on what plan you followed)

Hammer
Measuring tape

Belt sander
Nuts, bolts, nails and wood glue

You dont have to have high powered tools. However, these tools such as electric drills can ease the process of finishing your workbench designs.

Steps on Workbench Designs

If you already have your materials and equipment, its time to start workbench designs.

First, you need to cut the wood. Cut the pieces of wood according to appropriate sizes. Drill the holes which will be used for lag screws. Then, drill a inch hole though a 1 inch countersink. The top rails and lower rails are centered on the wooden legs.

After, the next step on finishing workbench designs is to assemble all the pieces. Start with the posts and then the long rails. Glue the lag screws. Set aside the posts and rails until the glue is all dried up.

Merge the two sides using the shorter rails. Glue the lower and the upper middle stretchers together with deck screws. Glue the plywood on the surface of your workbench with wood glue and screw with 1 screws.
