For those of you who have started an opt-in list and have failed, you can rejuvenate your failed venture by trying a few of these tips.

1) The first thing you must do, is get your cutomers trust and respect. Just because you were able to get your customers to sign up to your list does not neccesarily make you an expert. Put many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Write about the topic you know and have started and used for your site. You can also find forums in your niche and visit those. Find out what are the most common questions being asked. Create a question and answer article and send that to your list.

Register to the forums that your visiting. This way, you can start leaving your knowledge on the threads to gain more trust. You can then have a signature telling them about your free offer. This will get them to opt-in to your list and since they already know you give great advice, they'll be much more likely to be responsive to your offers.

Truth of the matter is, your only going to get people to buy when they trust what your saying. They want a product or service that is worth the price that they're paying. They're likely not going to be doing that if they don't know you or trust you.

2) You need to be sure that the product or service your promoting is something that people are looking for. You also need to make sure that you are knowledgable about the product or sevice that your promoting. If it is a topic or niche that your not to familiar with, then invest the time and effort into reseaching the topic thouroughly.

It can be true that selling something that your familiar with can be easier, you need to remember that sometimes it's necessary to expand into other people's wants and interests. Do your research well on what your list wants and you will see the profits come in. You must not forget that you need to keep giving your list free valuble content to give them a reason to stay on your list.

3) Get to know well established list owners. This is beneficial, especially if it is somebody who has already launched a successful opt-in list. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. You can find many writings about building a list, but ultimately, the best thing you can do is get the experience that you need.

If you can find somebody with experience, then he or she can walk you through the steps that you need to take to add value to your customers from the start. Although some situations may very from list to list, the basic concept behind building a relationship with your list is the same. Having a more experienced person mentor you can save you from making the same mistakes that many people who are just starting out make.
