How To Bowl A Strike- Possible Mistakes In Your Technique That Prevent Strikes

So you already know how to bowl a strike, but for some reason you can't seem to make it happen consistently. Knowing how to bowl a strike, and actually following through with your technique correctly are two totally different things.

The best thing you could do is go back over all the steps in your technique to find any flaws. The slightest miscalculation at any point from stance to ball release could have undesired effects on your accuracy and aim, thus your ability to bowl strikes.

First check your stance. Are you starting with your lead foot (opposite from the side you hold your ball on) pointed at the head pin, and your shoulders square with the foul line? If not, your throw would likely be inconsistent. Your beginning stance and posture throughout your throw have a large impact on accuracy.

Now look at your approach and swing. Is your footing worked out so you stop just short of the foul line after only three steps? You want to start the same distance from the foul line every time so that you always stop in the same place. While taking your swing as you approach the foul line, are you making sure to keep your arm completely straight as it moves back and forth? If your arms are wrapping around your body during the swing, even if only slightly, it is enough to throw your swing off.

The follow through is where the most commonly made mistakes occur. You should be keeping your head straight and eyes on the pins at all times. Getting in the habit of this helps to ensure that shoulders and feet stay straight in position, which in turn helps to ensure accuracy and proficient aim.

If you know how to bowl a strike, and have the proper technique down, then consistency and high bowling scores are just a bit of practice away. However, if you seem to bowl a little differently every time, then you need to check every portion of your technique to discover where you are off.
