How To Bowl A Strike - Tips You Need To Know In Order To Bowl Strikes

Everyone who bowls, whether it be a professional or an amateur or even a beginner, knows that getting strikes is the name of the game. Knowing how to bowl a strike, however, requires more than just luck.

You might be amazed by the ease with which some players are able to get a strike while you can't seem to stay out of the gutter. Truth is there are no special skills involved, but a few simple steps that when mastered can help you bowl strikes at will. Here are some simple techniques one must practice consistently in order to get more strikes and better bowling scores.

With the correct stance, your aim would improve. For a right hander, the proper stance is to aim your right foot towards the first pin and hold the ball on your right hand. For lefties you just do the opposite. By aiming your foot at the first pin your shoulder aligns with the foul line, resulting in better aim.

The next step is your swing. First grip the ball correctly and take your ball arm backwards. If you are right handed, then step with your right foot, followed by your left foot. At this point, swing the ball downwards. With the third step again take your hand backwards. Then on the fourth step, using the left leg as a counterweight release the ball. Again, lefties do the opposite.

The third step is to release the ball. Here the most important thing is timing. Too early may not give the ball enough force to knock all the pins down, while a late release may send the ball in the gutter. So the correct time is when you feel the maximum gravitational pull on the ball, when you are swinging downwards. Make sure your wrist is straight and relaxed, aim the ball at the center dot of the lane.

Finally, the follow through, always remember to keep your eyes fixed at the middle pin. Generally the foot and shoulder follow the eye.
