How To Beat Necrophobia, The Phobia Of Death

By:

Necrophobia, the fear of death and dying, is one of the most common fears in the world. This devastating phobia affects thousands of sufferers and can develop regardless of a person's health, age, or personal beliefs. It is a fear that may have serious consequences on an individual's life. Often, people are afraid of anything that can be associated with death, such as funerals and wakes, or less obviously, medical centers and horror movies. In extreme cases, the anxiety disorder leaves sufferers paralyzed with terror. Even though this phobia is among the most severe, through knowledge and therapy, sufferers can successfully rise above this anxiety disorder.

Although most of us can understand the fear of death and dying, when someone experiences a phobia, they suffer from more intense, life-altering feelings of fear that can disrupt their daily lives. Necrophobia itself can lead to strong feelings of dread, paranoia, and severe panic attacks. Phobia sufferers often feel scared of circumstances under which they do not have complete control.

Although a few people experience the phobia all the time, in others, it is only set off by specific situations and events. For some people, the fear of death may arise after a traumatic incident such as watching a family member pass away. Necrophobia is marked in general by the sensation of a powerful, irrational fear of death, dying, and anything associated with death.

Necrophobia is not often as simple as it seems. This is seen because the phobia is closely associated with pain, hypochondria, fear of the unknown, and other underlying anxieties that make it challenging to overcome. This challenge can be addressed by a treatment formulated to work against several phobias. This is the case with a good hypnosis and NLP program.

Phobias can be treated with several different methods. Successful treatments include talk therapy and other types of therapy such as hypnosis, NLP, anti-anxiety medication, and relaxation techniques. Hypnosis combined with NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques tends to have one of the highest success rates among the various treatment choices because it uses various innovative ways of addressing fears and preventing anxiety.

A hypnosis therapy regimen starts with anti-anxiety techniques that make the mind open to phobia-relieving suggestions. Treatment of stress and anxiety is a key element of phobia treatment because it is believed to be the initial step in preventing panic attacks and warding off negative, fear-generating mental associations.

Systematic desensitization techniques utilized under the hypnotic state are another effective mechanism of treatment. Under hypnosis, a user is guided into imagery of fear-triggering situations and is taught how to release anxiety. After successful treatment, users are able to stay calm and rational under circumstances which normally set off fear. Users also say that thoughts that previously cause fear no longer cause them distress. Systematic desensitization may also be effectively conducted without the use of hypnosis, but it then becomes a more challenging, time-consuming and involved process.

The Neuro-Linguistic Programming Visual/Kinesthetic Disassociation is frequently seen as the most effective technique to terminate irrational fears. This technique helps patients "disconnect" their emotions from the underlying, unconscious visualizations that cause an anxiety attack, in a process that causes them to quickly "snap out" of the feeling of fear. For this reason, programs using the V/K Disassociation are often termed "instant" phobia cures by their creators and patients alike.

Hypnotherapy has utilized highly advanced techniques for tackling the root of fears. Ericksonian hypnotherapy, so named after its creator, Milton Erickson, MD, has proven a success in helping to re-work the thought processes that cause a phobia. Using conversational language, it automatically guides the unconscious mind into a new thought process. In a similar process, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is used to reform the unconscious thought processes. With the NLP Flash, phobia causing thoughts will automatically be turned around to quell the negative feelings instead, resulting in instantaneous phobia relief.

Necrophobia can be successfully treated even at levels of high severity. Traditional techniques combined with hypnosis can accelerate the cure process, while novel hypnosis techniques work at the unconscious level to end fear and anxiety. The non-invasive nature of hypnosis also renders it a safe treatment option as it can reduce or end the need for anti-anxiety medication. Fear patients report dramatic, life-altering effects that come from hypnosis therapy. For countless people experiencing the fear of death, hypnotherapy offers an effective form of treatment.
