More and more people use GoDaddy as their hosting provider, to be safe, we should backup our data often. Now let's take a look at how to backup our data in GoDaddy.
With some of the glitches that have been happening lately with updating WordPress and various plugins, we believe that there are some available backups will be very importantr.
Then, one of my Blogger to WordPress transfer assistants has written the follow post to help give you peace of mind as you update your WordPress blog. If you're backing up your blog each day and get one of those udpates that causes problems, it's an easy fix to just reinstall your latest backup and move on. This is another beautiful thing about having your blog on WordPress with a hosted account - backing up your blog is actually an option (unlike with the free platforms such as Blogger or WordPress.com)!
How to BackUp Your Blog
This tutorial gives the steps for backing up your blog with GoDaddy since that is the hosting we provide (free for the first year!) with our Blog Transfers and Online Blogging Classes.
When you are in your WordPress Dashboard you will notice "updates" are available for your site.? It is necessary to backup your site before installing these updates or you may risk loosing everything.?Here are simple steps to show you exactly how to do it:
Sign into Go Daddy
1. Go to My Account
2. Then click Hosting (at the left)
3. Click Launch
4. In the green toolbar hover over Databases and click My SQL
5. On the far right click the pencil (edit)
6. On the top left of toolbar click Backup
7. Then click OK
8. Confirm OK
It will take some time for your site backup to complete, depending on the size of your blog. Notice that when it's backing up it will say "pending backup" - refresh the page until it says "backup complete".
Once you have done that, go in and
update WP, the Theme or Plugin (whatever update is available at that time).? Backing Up for plugins isn't really as important as Backing Up for an upgrade for your Theme and/or WP. I would do this every month or every other to be on the safe side.
Some Plugins to Consider
Use WP DB Backup to back up your words and WordPress Backup Plugin to back up your actual site.
At this point, the content is not very long, but they are very important. I hope it's useful to you. If you have any questions, please visit my website:
