• Check all OTC labels under "Drug Facts" to see if acetaminophen is one of its active ingredients

• Check with your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse to see if any prescription medication you are taking contains this drug. It may be abbreviated on the label as "APAP"

• If you drink three or more alcoholic beverages per day you should speak to your doctor before taking any type of this drug.

• If your doctor advises you go give acetaminophen to your sick child you should make sure that you give your child the appropriate amount. Also note that there are different types of medications for babies and older children.

• Follow all of the dosing directions that pertain to a child's weight and age. If you have any questions ask your doctor before giving your child any medicine.

• Make sure that you administer the proper amount by using the proper measuring tool.
