Have you ever approached a woman with what you thought would be the perfect opener, only to find that you fall flat on your face and do nothing at all to impress her? If not, then it's probably because you just haven't approached too many women. Most guys are going to find that they make a lot of mistakes when they approach women, but it is getting past those mistakes that is going to make the difference and get you to the point where it seems easy to walk up to a woman and know what the right thing to say is to make her want to get to know you more.

Here are 3 common mistakes men make when they make their approach that you should avoid:

1. Being too self conscious.

You should be aware of yourself and the way that you look when you walk up to a woman, but you don't want to be too aware. What I mean by this is, a lot of times you will see guys try and look just way too cool as they walk up to a woman, and you know what that does? It makes you look like just another guy who thinks he is a stud with women, and it makes her feel like she just wants to avoid you at all costs. The other drawback about being too self conscious, is that you will end up second guessing yourself the entire time you are walking over to her, and probably end up doing one of those things where you walk right past her instead of right up to her.

2. Not opening the conversation with something that she can respond to.

Any time you try to open a conversation, it should make her want to respond to you. Opening with a statement that evokes no reason for her to respond is going to leave you in one of those really awkward moments where she does not know what to say, you don't know what to say next, and it just feels uncomfortable. The whole point of the opener is to get her to talk back to you, so make sure that you use something that leaves it open for her to do this.

3. Approaching her with the look of a deer in the headlights.

It's okay to feel a little nervous about approaching a woman, even the best pick up artists feel a little of that from time to time. Just don't make it painfully obvious that you are nervous, or else you are going to either creep her out or make her feel just as nervous as you.
