How To Add Those Warm Winter Wedding Colors

By:

Balancing your winter wedding look is crucial. You don"t want your reception to look like frosty the snowman"s living room but at the same time you don"t want it to look like a winter carnival. Here are some color tips and suggestions to help create a good color balance in winter.

Blue

While sky blue is one of the more popular summer wedding colors, it can make things look extra frosty at a winter wedding especially if it"s combined with crystal pieces or just about anything that"s going to concentrate lots of white light like mirrors. Unless you"re going for that frozen look, consider other shades of blue like a deep royal blue. Pay close attention to the finish that the ribbons or ornaments that you"re using have.

Red

A bright carnival red or Santa"s sleigh red is not going to help make a winter wedding look elegant. The only place red goes with white is in a candy cane or on Santa"s outfit. With winter, it"s about deeper shades and matte finishes. Instead of red, use burgundy or maroon and combine it with brown. Use chocolate covered strawberries in your centerpieces; they"re an ideal color palette if you want to use red.

Green

Holly green is the way to go; bright green is purely for a summer wedding. You can add garlands of holly along the aisles. Holly green serves as a great base color and lets you add more colors then you normally could with red or blue; you can use fresh fruit arrangements made in a holy green or Christmas tree green container to make your tables stand out.
