How Self Storage In Merton Saved The Day

Christmas is meant to be a time of calm and relaxation but this year we managed to be very unlucky and suffer not one, but two floods in our London flat. Just what you need before your Christmas! It has been a complete pain and if it wasn't for finding a reliable self storage in Merton we would have been really stuck. The carpets in our flat were pretty damaged but after the first flood we thought we may have got away with replacing them because the water was clear and a dehumidifier managed to suck out most of the water.

With the second flood the carpet was not so lucky; the water was black and stank, so as soon as I came home to find my lovely Christmassy flat flooded again I knew that were going to have to remove the carpet. After sending for another carpet cleaner in the space of a month I left the carpet for a few days to see how much damage had been done. This time it was really bad and I knew that the flat would have to be re-carpeted and I was not sure where all our belongings would go.

However, I did manage to find storage in Merton that were able to help me quickly and efficiently. They even provided a van so that I was able to move most of our furniture into storage, so whilst the plumbing is being fixed and our flat is being re-carpeted we do not have to worry.

It is such a relief to know that none of our belongings will get damaged now they are safely and securely kept in storage. What is also convenient is that we are able to keep all our belongings there on a short term basis, so as soon as the flat is sorted we can move back into our home.

I honestly can not tell you how useful it has been being able to keep my precious belongings somewhere else whilst the flat has suffered from damage. I have so many things that mean the world to me and if left in the damp would have been really ruined. Luckily I now know that they are safe and dry until all the work is done.

Now we are into the New Year we can now look forward to a dry and happy year without all that stress. Since we have had most of belongings in storage I am now considering keeping some of the clutter there permanently as I like the new stream-lined look and storage in Merton is cost effective.
