How My Garage Became A Miami Tire Shop

By:

Recently it seems like my husband is running a Miami tire shop out of our garage. I know that he claims to be a lineman, but with all of the buying, selling, and changing of tires that he's been doing recently, I swear he's turning into a professional sales man.

It all started when my husband signed up for a metal sculpting class at college this past summer. He fell in love with welding everything from delicate roses to cows made out of shovels and horse shoes. By the time he was done with the course he was convinced that he couldn't live the rest of his life without a welder and a plasma cutter of his own.

We really don't have a lot of extra money floating around in our budget for extra toys like that, but my husband had a plan of action.

He went over to his parents' house and started digging through their shed in the backyard. He found the tires and rims that he had pulled off of his Toyota Tacoma before he traded it in for our new car, and the next thing I knew he was making a posting on the internet saying that we had rims and tires for sale.

A few weeks later, after a little bit of bargaining, my husband sold his tires and rims. He made enough money to pay for the welder that he had been eyeing on ebay for the past few weeks and he considered it a successful venture.

The next thing I knew my husband had decided that we could save a lot of money if we purchased some different rims for our car. By doing this, he would be able to change out our regular tires for snow tires each year instead of paying someone else to do it.

He found a good deal for some tires and rims online and called up the dealership where he had purchased the car to make sure that these particular rims would work on our car alright. The man on the phone gave him the seal of approval so we went ahead and purchased the tires.

Unfortunately, when we got home we discovered that the man at the car lot was wrong and those rims weren't going to work. From there we were on a quest to sell a set of tires and rims again.

We weren't excited about the fact that our newly purchased tires and rims had been a complete waste, but at the same time I guess it's good to know that if my husband ever loses his job, he would be very successful at running a Miami tire shop.
