How Much Does A Physical Therapy Assistant Make

By:

Let's start off by taking a look at what you can expect to earn as a physical therapy assistant. The average physical therapy assistant salary as of today runs about $45,000 a year.

An excellent starting salary after a two-year degree.

You will find it hard to get a better salary for a two year degree. And right now the field is opening up in more ways than ever.

With new innovations dealing with amputees alone the field is expanding on the horizon.

This field is wide open. You have the fields of pediatrics, geriatrics, and sports medicine available to you.

There seems to be a year-to-year increase in population involved with sports and exercise. Even doctors now promote exercise as a way of increasing a productive life.

Exercise is also used in controlling weight. Diet alone does not do the trick.

Cardiovascular health cannot be maintained without some form of aerobic exercise. As such the physical therapy assistant can expect to see more of the population as it relates to sports and exercise injures.

We are beginning to see exercise playing a more important role in pediatrics. Obese children and teens are becoming more the norm. It is agreed that the way to control obesity in children is diet and physical activity or exercise and sports.

An aging population is also increasing the demand for the physical therapy assistant. Miracles can be seen almost daily in this field. Someone who couldn't get along at all now being able to walk gives one a great feeling.

Of course accidents and injuries will continue to be another field open to the physical therapy assistant.

Check out some physical therapy assistant programs in your vicinity. Go to various colleges that offer these programs.

Notice the various similarities and differences in the way they train their students. My viewpoint is well-known if you have read anything I have said on this site. The more lab work, hands-on training, the better off you are.

Community colleges have physical therapy assistant programs as well universities. A few phone calls should give you a list.

Then you can schedule visits to these various schools. Then you can do an evaluation as to which program best suits you. Here is a new career just a few phone calls away.
