How Modern Shower Enclosures Make A Home Modern

By:

If you're standing in disbelief at the unnamed green fungus growing around the edges of one of your existing shower enclosures, it may be time to think of a more modern replacement. The ranges of simple sheet glass shower enclosures is wide, as well as many other shower enclosures made of various materials and styled into many other unique and classic shapes.

The minimal approach to shower enclosures is one of the most popular in the current shower market. In recent years the entire shower room has become ultra modern and minimalist in design. The function of the shower is essentially quite simple - it's just a room with a floor which slants down towards a drainage point. A shower enclosure prevents the entire room from becoming wet. And of course, a shower unit and head is a good idea. Add the odd shelf to hold shampoo and soap and a few angled spotlights - and you have a most minimal shower area.

Level access shower designs are when the floor around the shower unit is the same level as the shower itself - so the whole shower floor is one. Shower enclosures may also aesthetically differ from the surrounding room. Some may have a tiled area around the immediate shower zone, with a different colour or design of tiles on the wider room.

Lighting is another feature which can really add a little extra interest to very minimal shower enclosures. By pointing spotlights or small halogen lights at the immediate shower zone, some pools of light highlight the details of the shower head and specific tile details.

Having level floor access and easily opened/closed shower enclosures or doors, makes accessing the shower as easy as possible. This can important for older people who find getting in and out of the shower slightly more challenging. Similarly, if a shower user has a disability, this can help them too.

Another feature of modern shower enclosures is an added foldable seat, allowing people who have mobility issues to sit down while taking a shower. This can also be helpful if someone needs assistance from someone while taking a shower. Along with this, added safety bars can make the shower experience a safe and pleasant experience for those who are less mobile.

In terms of keeping the floor entirely safe from leaking, a shower tray is another addition to the modern shower. This is a highly durable tray placed beneath whichever tile or matting material is chosen for the shower floor.

New designs can really add value to a property and make taking a shower an aesthetically pleasing experience - making a home thoroughly modern. A more minimal shower enclosure can be easier to clean than a more traditional bathroom set up, meaning less time cleaning and more time in the shower!
