How Late In The Day Can I Schedule Next Day Pickups?

By:

The delivery industry is all about timing and scheduling, and to make the most of your courier company, you really need to know how their scheduling works. Most Massachusetts delivery companies are going to have cut off times for their various services. This is going to differ depending on the type of courier service that you request for them, but is important to know when these times are so that you can have your orders placed in time.

Most deliveries aren't urgent enough to require same day pickup, and are satisfied with having their package picked up the next day. This works well in most cases, because it gives you a lot more flexibility as to when you have to have placed your shipment order by in order to have the pickup made on time. This will differ from company to company, and will depend to a large extent on the hours that the courier company keeps.

Different couriers operate at different hours of business. There are a few business exclusive couriers that only operate from 9-5, or just a few hours outside of that time frame. Most couriers operate a long day, from around six in the morning to an hour or two before midnight. Then, there are also couriers that operate on a 24 hour basis.

Usually, a courier is going to schedule their next day's deliveries before they leave for the evening. That means that in most places, you don't just need to get your order into the courier before they close, but a few hours before that. In that situation, they then have enough time to route the dispatches for the following day so that your package can be picked up when you need it to.

Obviously with a 24 hour courier, they don't ever close, so this can be more difficult to judge. It is always a good idea to check directly with your courier anyway to see when they require an order to be placed by. That way you can be sure of not missing a deadline and having your shipment get to your client a day late.

The other thing to keep in mind is that if you do need faster delivery services, they are available. They usually cost more, but if you absolutely need your product shipped there is usually a way to do it. This includes using a same day emergency shipping option.
