How Late In The Day Can I Schedule A Next Day Pickup?

By:

It is always important to know what cut off times your distribution logistics company adheres to. When you know this, you will know when you have to have all your shipping requests in by in order to keep your delivery network running smoothly. One of the most commonly ordered services by clients of couriers is next day service, which makes knowing the cut off time for next day service particularly important in many cases.

The cut off time is the time that you must request service by in order to get the option that you're trying to buy. So, in the case of next day service, in order to have your delivery completed by the end of the following day, the cut off is the time on the day before the delivery date that you must call by in order to have your shipment completed by your target time.

Next day service cut off times are typically quite early in the morning. Same day cut off times are usually as early as 10:00 AM, and cut off times for next day service will usually be a few hours after that. Noon is about as late as you would normally expect to see a cut off time for a next day service in a regular courier company. If a courier offers both next and same day options, you can usually expect the next day service to be slightly later than the same.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is much different with some twenty four hour courier companies. There are some of these which will make pickups at any time of night, and start on a delivery in the middle of the night if possible. These companies sometimes have much later cut off times for their next day service, because they have many more useable hours in the day to make sure that the delivery is completed on time.

If you're looking to get your package delivered the next day but need some other options available to you, remember that there are lots of great same day, rush, and NFO courier companies out there now. Many companies will offer all three of these services in addition to next day pickups. If you miss the cut off time for next day, any of these services should still be able to get your delivery made in the same amount of time.
