How Late Can I Schedule A Next Day Pickup?

By:

The larger your company, the more difficult it can be to coordinate all your shipping needs. Most shipping models now work on a clockwork-like efficiency, and it's common for products produced one day to be shipped out the next. However, it is important to realize that every Massachusetts delivery company might have a different cut off time by which you have to place your orders in order to have that next day pickup made. Be sure that you don't run into a problem by knowing when that is.

The time that is going to be required by your courier to place your order by in order to get next day pickup will usually be determined somewhat by the hours they keep. Couriers vary in their schedules everywhere from a standard 8 hour workday to those which are open around the clock.

Typically, the cutoff time for next day pickup requests is going to be at least an hour, if not a few, before the time that the courier closes. So, if your courier closes at five, it's probably three. If they close at midnight, it is probably nine or ten at night, although some may still have a five o'clock cut off time even if they are open later.

Twenty four hour delivery companies can have rules that are very different from each other as well, so it's best to check directly with your company to make sure you don't make an incorrect assumption about when they will accept orders for next day delivery. Typically though, they will usually require it sometime before 10:00 PM the day before.

The reason that these couriers all have their cut off times is because they have to schedule the pickups with a great deal of precision. They route their drivers so that they can most efficiently make as many pickups as possible in as short an amount a time as they can arrange. So, the dispatch offices have to make careful plans based not only on driving routes, but also the capacity of the vehicles so that they can get all the pickups and deliveries made. They require a cut off time so that they can have the next day's routes planned before they open the next day.

If you don't know your couriers cut off time for next day pickup, be sure to check with them directly, or visit their website and see if the information is listed there.
