How Frequently Should You Puff On A Cigar?

By:

Smoking a cigar is not quite like smoking anything else. While pipes and cigarettes certainly have an etiquette, cigar smoking can be quite a mystery to the uninitiated. For instance, many first time smokers struggle with the cutting process, with choosing the right Nibo lighter and even with choosing the right cigar cutter for their needs. However, one area that seems to cause the most confusion is that of pulling, or drawing on the cigar. Specifically, most first timers have trouble understanding how often they should take a pull from their cigar.

While smoking natural tobaccos like those found in cigars and pipes is quite different from smoking a cigarette where unnatural additives keep the tobacco burning, it does require that you have knowledge of the required frequency to those pulls. For instance, pulling too few times per minute will allow the cigar to go out. However, if you pull too frequently, you will find that the cigar grows quite hot and that the taste becomes quite a bit heavier and less enjoyable. Once you use your Nibo lighter to ignite your cigar, you have to develop a pattern of inhalation that will keep your cigar going, but going quietly.

Ideally, you should draw on your cigar two or three times every minute. This allows the cigar to remain lit, without forcing the coals to become too hot to handle. You will find that if you light your cigar with your Nibo lighter and draw on your cigar the right number of times, you are provided with a cool, enjoyable smoke that is very enjoyable. However, if you overheat your cigar, it is quite possible to ruin the smoking experience completely. It is vital that you avoid this situation.

What should you do if you overheat that cigar? The first thing you need to do is hold the cigar; don't set it down, just put it in your free hand and allow the coals to cool a bit. Often, you will be able to let the cigar cool sufficiently that you are able to resume smoking in just a few minutes. However, if you set your cigar down and forget about it, you will have to use your Nibo lighter to relight it and this carries its own precautions and required steps. A relit cigar can be enjoyable, but if you avoid overheating it in the first place, you need not worry about it.
