How Easy Is It To Learn Qigong?

By:

You've probably heard of the many health benefits the practice of Qigong can bring to you, but how easy is it to learn this ancient healing method?

There are a number of different Qigong techniques which go under a variety of names, and they can differ slightly from each other - which can be confusing if you're just starting to learn Qigong.

Coordination

But the core idea behind all Qigong exercises is the same; that is, the coordination of breathing, movement and mental focus. Some Qigong techniques are complex in their breathwork and focus, but anyone can derive the benefits from even the most basic Qigong movements.

To get the most from your Qigong practice you need to do it regularly, and this applies whether you're a beginner or you have reached a more advanced stage. It's also a good idea to set aside at least fifteen minutes a day for your Qigong, but if you can stretch to a couple of thirty-minute sessions say, one in the morning and one in the evening then so much the better. You can do this with a dozen or so movements which you can repeat as many times as you want to.

Qigong Classes

There are plenty of books available to help you learn Qigong, many of which go into a great deal of detail about the subject. You may also be able to find Qigong classes local to you, and although this is likely to be a more expensive option it might be the best way to go for you since it's always easier to learn if you are being shown how to do something, and you can also ask questions.

You will also be able to find information and Qigong videos on the Internet which will show you the most basic movements. There are no hard and fast rules with Qigong. You can take the movements you like, and even modify them so that they feel 'right' for you. The important question you have to ask yourself is, is this benefiting me? Do I feel improvements through doing this practice?

Qigong Benefits

Qigong can be whatever you want it to be. Yes, you can develop a complex practice routine over time but you shouldn't be intimidated from making a start by thinking that you have to learn it all within a day or two. Add one or two movements each day, and within a couple of weeks you will have mastered a full routine - and you will certainly be starting to feel the benefits to your overall health and to specific physical and emotional imbalances.
