How Does Your Tap Water Taste

By:

Have you ever noticed how you water might taste from one day to the next? Sometimes you think that you could never drink enough because it might taste so good. Then the next day you will not be able to hardly drink any because it will not taste the same. Some of you just can not seem to stand drinking your tap water. If you happen to be one of these people, do you drink bottled water or none at all? Your body needs water every day to keep healthy. If you do not drink enough of it you will probably end up very sick and get put into the hospital.

You need to be drinking at least 32 ounces of plain water a day. Most of you do not get even half of that. The really bad thing about all of this is that your children might get even less. Their little bodies will dry up a lot faster then yours because of the simple fact they are more active than adults. So in reality their little bodies definitely need enough water every day just to keep from getting sick or dehydrated. Dehydration in children can happen really easy especially if they are sick with fever or stomach ailment that involves throwing up or diarrhea. Many times children will end being hospitalized because of dehydration.

When you drink your tap water and it has a different taste or smell, let this water run for a minute or two to flush out the lines before you drink it. If this smell or taste is still noticeable after a couple of minutes, you might need to call your city water department and tell them about the problem. They will likely send someone out to test the water unless they already know what the problem is.

These problems usually happen more often when you have well water coming into your home, but this can happen even when you have city water. A homeowner that has a well and uses it as their water supply, will need to have the water coming from the well checked about once a year to make sure no problems have developed. Sometimes people who have well water will use water purifiers or have a company come every so often to treat the well water to cut down on dirt and bacteria that might be in it. If you really do not like drinking tap water, you can go to your local supermarket and buy bottled water using the tap water in your home for cooking, doing your laundry or your dishes.
