How Does Adware Affect You?

By:

It is pretty safe to say that a majority of people have been affected by the phenomenon of adware. Whether or not these encounters with adware were a positive or negative one is up to the user to decide. Having said that, this article is designedto simply help distinguish the positive and negative characteristics of adware.

The Negative Affects of Adware:

For most people, the negative characteristics of adware are pretty obvious. People's primary problem with adware is its ability to randomly pop up advertisements on your system. Not only that, but adware has also been known to slow down a computer's speed and performance.

Putting adware's functionality aside, people have also developed forms of aggravation when trying to eliminate adware from their systems. From trying to pursue every remedy available, some adware will just not seem to go away, no matter what people do. In these situations, it seems the only guaranteed way to remove adware is to reformat the computer and then just reinstall everything, which is usually considered a bad alternative.

At this point, a lot of people can probably agree on all of the negative aspects of adware. Heck, there are probably a lot more issues people have with adware that were not discussed above, but these are just the primary frustrations people have. So, if adware causes all of these problems to people and their computers, you may be wondering how on earth it can have any positive traits whatsoever. As crazy as it sounds, below will discuss the positive traits of adware.

How Adware Has Made A Positive Impact:

Here is a question for you: have you ever downloaded something for free (legally, of course) and the owner of whatever you downloaded asked you for a donation? That being said, have you ever donated to freely download what these owners/developers offer? And no, donating your time to visit their site and use their software doesn't count. It is probably safe to say the majority of people won't donate any money to download stuff for free. This is where adware comes into play.

For the most part, where there is adware, there is some decent money to be made. Since monetary contributions usually do not cover all of the costs from free downloads, advertisers are throw down the offer to contribute money. For the advertiser's money, they simply ask the download developers to bundle their adware with whatever they are offering. Since there are no other alternatives for the developer, (s)he agrees to bundle the adware and in return, you are allowed to download whatever is being offered for free.

How about that? Adware does indeed serve a positive aspect to the Internet. It doesn't matter if you do or do not utilize free downloads, because so many people already do. Having said that, adware is responsible for making so many downloads available for free.
